The US dollar rose strongly on Friday and was set for a weekly gain after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh suggested interest rate hikes may be needed if policymakers doubt inflation is returning to the 2% target. Rate-hike expectations jumped.
A firmer dollar and higher US rate expectations weigh on dollar-denominated grain and oilseed prices and can pressure export competitiveness, while tighter financial conditions also dampen commodity speculation.
