The North Carolina State Veterinarian urged poultry owners to maintain strict biosecurity and keep birds indoors where possible. More than 100 wild birds in North Carolina have tested positive for HPAI since January 16, and HPAI has been confirmed in 17 commercial farms across seven states.
The advisory signals continued disease pressure on U.S. poultry, but North Carolina has no domestic flock cases so far, so the supply impact is limited.
