The American Association of Swine Veterinarians reports that the National Pork Board and industry groups are building a coordinated H5N1 response plan. The plan follows a recent H5N1 detection in pigs on a small Oregon farm.
Detection in US pigs raises the possibility of wider spread and pork trade restrictions, which would affect hog supply. The response plan itself is preparatory and does not change current supply.
