EIA data show US biofuel producers used a record 1.687 billion lb of soybean oil in July, up about 52% year on year. Biodiesel and renewable diesel plants both set monthly records, and distillers corn oil use rose 24% from June.
Record soybean oil consumption by biofuel plants signals strong feedstock demand that supports soybean oil prices. Strength in distillers corn oil use also points to tighter alternative fats supply.
