China's April soybean imports fell 10% from a year earlier to 7.26 million tonnes, according to customs data. The volume was well below the 9 million tonnes traders had expected, as stricter customs checks delayed cargoes.
Weaker-than-expected Chinese buying reduces demand for US and Brazilian soybeans, which pressures soybean prices and the meal that feed buyers rely on.
