China significantly steps up US grain purchases

China has sharply increased purchases of US wheat, with commitments since June surpassing 2 million tonnes, mainly soft red winter wheat. Recent sales on Dec.

4 and Dec. 6 were the largest single commitments since 2020, and China also bought US soybeans during the same week.

重要性

Large Chinese buying offsets lost US export demand and supports wheat and soybean prices, as China diversifies away from drought-hit Australian supply.
