China's Ministry of Agriculture cut its corn import forecast for the current fiscal year to 3 million tonnes from 7 million, the lowest in eight years. The report attributed the cut to U.S. tariffs and quotas, and it raised the soybean import forecast to 104 million tonnes.
Lower Chinese corn imports reduce global demand for corn and weigh on export prices. A higher soybean import estimate supports demand for soybeans from Brazil and other suppliers.
