The February 2022 WASDE showed few changes to US corn and soybean balance sheets, with US corn ending stocks unchanged at 1.540 billion bushels. USDA cut the Brazilian corn crop by only 1 million tonnes to 114 million tonnes, less than traders expected.
Grain futures rose to new contract highs after the report.
A smaller-than-expected South American cut signals ongoing tightness, and the market rallied on South American weather concerns and the Ukraine conflict, supporting corn, soybean and meal prices.
