Idle capacity at Argentina's soybean crushing plants rose to 31% in July and has widened since, according to the CIARA-CEC chamber. Processors are losing business as strong raw bean exports to China absorb supply that would otherwise be crushed locally.
Lower crush throughput reduces domestic meal and oil output, which can tighten those export markets, while more raw beans leaving the country adds to bean supply. The net price effect is mixed across soybeans, meal and oil.
