Dry weather has covered most of Brazil's safrinha corn area in central and south-central Brazil, with some fields dry for about four weeks and little rain forecast. The early-planted corn in Sorriso, Mato Grosso is expected to yield 120 to 130 sacks per hectare, but later-developing corn in Parana may be trimmed.
Brazil's corn estimate was left unchanged at 125.0 million tons.
Yield losses on late-planted safrinha corn would tighten Brazil's export supply during the main export window, supporting corn prices. The impact depends on whether rain returns before grain filling is complete.
