Some farmers in southern Brazil are expected to start planting 2025/26 summer corn before the end of August, even though the 2024/25 safrinha harvest is not finished. Heavy rain in the south and a wetter-than-normal dry season have improved soil moisture for early planting.
Early planting with good moisture supports the outlook for Brazil's summer corn crop, which is a source of supply in the first half of the year. The effect on prices is limited for now.
