Farm Futures reader reports show variable crop ratings and concern about subsoil moisture during corn pollination. Nearly three-quarters of corn was silking as a heat wave arrived, and USDA topsoil moisture was 57% adequate to surplus.
Heat and dry soils during pollination and kernel fill can cut yields, which supports corn and soybean prices if conditions persist.
