The April 14 drought monitor showed 77.6% of the US in abnormal dryness or drought, with 61% in D1 or worse. Heavy rain fell across the Upper Midwest, with some areas receiving 200-400% of normal.
Drought coverage for corn, soybeans and winter wheat acres declined.
Easing drought in the Midwest reduces weather risk to early corn and soybean planting, which tends to weigh on prices. Dryness in winter wheat areas remains a concern for HRW supply.
