US corn and soybean futures declined as weekend rains in the Corn Belt improved soil moisture in dry areas. Crude oil and gold weakness and a firmer dollar also pressured the markets, with December corn at $5.53-3/4 and November soybeans at $13.29-3/4.
The USDA rated 64% of corn as good to excellent, up two points.
Improved soil moisture lowers yield risk and weaker crude reduces biofuel-linked demand support for corn and soyoil. Expectations of a USDA production cut in the coming report limit the downside.
