Dollar set for sparkling week as hike expectations surge

The dollar was headed for its best week in seven months against major currencies after Powell opened the door to faster-than-usual rate hikes. The dollar index moved above 97 for the first time since July 2020, and the euro hit a 20-month low near $1.1131.

重要性

A sharply stronger dollar and expectations of rapid U.S. rate hikes tend to pressure dollar-priced commodities and weaken demand from importers using weaker local currencies.
