University of Arkansas economists outlined a 2026 rice outlook citing January WASDE figures of 34.6 million bushels of long-grain ending stocks and a $10.50/cwt farm price. They expect prices to stay depressed through 2026 unless major Asian production shocks occur.
Large exportable surpluses from Asia and lower Indonesian import demand suggest continued price weakness. Only a major Asian production shock would likely change that outlook.
