China's yuan was little changed on Friday after edging higher, but was on track to end a 13-week winning streak, its longest since 2012. The dollar firmed broadly amid the widening Middle East conflict, and the PBOC removed foreign exchange risk reserves for forward contracts, encouraging corporate dollar demand.
A firmer dollar and weaker yuan raise the cost of dollar-priced grain and feed imports for China, which can soften Chinese buying interest and pressure soybean and meal prices.
