U.S. natural gas futures rose to their highest level since January as LNG exports surged and forecasts called for continued heat through late August. Hurricane Isaias knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of homes before moving up the East Coast.
Refinitiv projected U.S. demand, including exports, would rise to 91.8 bcfd the following week.
Higher gas prices raise the cost of natural gas used in nitrogen fertilizer and ethanol production, which feeds into corn and DDGS costs for feed buyers. Strong LNG export pull and heat-driven power burn also tighten the domestic gas balance.
