Chinese buyers are increasing inquiries for Myanmar rice for January shipments, anticipating that Beijing will renew and possibly raise its import quota for Myanmar rice in early January. Myanmar Rice Federation projects 1 million tonnes of rice and broken rice exports to China in FY 2025-26.
A larger Chinese quota would expand guaranteed demand for Myanmar rice and could lift regional rice export prices. Market participants already expect a price rally.
