Oklahoma cattle prices have risen sharply since late 2022, with feeder calves up 12 to 20 percent and slaughter cow prices up nearly 39 percent. Bred cow values are running lower than normal because lingering drought is holding back the market.
Analysts expect values to rise sharply by fall if drought conditions improve.
Drought is restricting cow herd rebuilding and feeder supply, which keeps cattle prices firm and suggests further gains in bred cow and feeder values if rains return.
