CME live cattle futures hit their lowest levels since June on Tuesday after larger-than-expected US feedlot placements and inventories reported by USDA. Feeder cattle also slid to multi-month lows, while packers bought cattle cheaper in the cash market.
A perceived turn in herd-size direction weighs on cattle prices and could slow feedlot demand for feed grains over the coming year.
