University of Wisconsin economists said US butter and cheese stocks have declined, with powder stocks expected to draw down as well. Strong June and July exports and record May powder exports were noted, while cheese exports rose 8% year over year.
Stock drawdowns and firm export demand support dairy prices, which can improve milk returns and support dairy-related feed use.
