The U.S. Grains Council, Renewable Fuels Association and Growth Energy asked the incoming U.S. Trade Representative to make China's recent trade barriers on ethanol and DDGS a top priority. China raised its final DDGS anti-dumping duty to 42.2-53.7% and countervailing duty to 11.2-12%, and ethanol tariffs rose from 5% to 30-40%.
China was the third-largest export market for U.S. ethanol and a leading one for DDGS.
Higher Chinese duties have cut U.S. DDGS and ethanol export demand, pressuring DDGS prices that feed-buyers compare against corn and soymeal. Continued trade friction could keep DDGS export-driven demand weak.
