USDA's latest Cattle on Feed report showed a two percent increase in cattle on feed after large feedlot placements in April. Analysts expect the larger cattle numbers to reach the fed market later this year.
CME live and feeder cattle futures fell sharply on the report.
Bigger fed cattle supplies later in 2017 point to downward pressure on live and feeder cattle prices. Buyers should expect softer cattle values as these animals are marketed.
