Feeder cattle receipts at St. Joseph totaled 385,600 head, up from 354,200 last week and 118,200 a year ago. Steers and heifers sold steady to $3 lower, with strong demand for yearlings in the Northern Plains.
The Cattle on Feed report put placements at 110% of last year and on-feed at 101%.
Large placements and heavy receipts add feeder supply that pressures calf and feeder prices. Tight yearling supply supports values in some segments.
