U.S. ethanol exports hit a record 119.2 million gallons in May 2017, up 37% from April and 75% above a year earlier, with Brazil and Canada taking 80% of the volume. DDGS exports reached 742,043 metric tons in May, down 15% from April.
Strong ethanol export demand supports corn use and ethanol plant throughput, while the monthly drop in DDGS exports tightens available co-product supply for feed buyers. Export flows sustain demand for U.S. DDGS in the near term.
