The yuan weakened against the dollar on Friday, October 27, after the PBOC set its midpoint at 6.6473, the weakest fixing since October 9. The move followed a rise in the dollar index to 94.774, and the yuan was on course for a second weekly loss.
A weaker yuan raises the cost of US and Brazilian feed commodities for Chinese buyers, which can slow purchases. The dollar strength also weighs on dollar-denominated grain prices.
