University of Minnesota soybean agronomist Seth Naeve recalls a 2017 season with many localized weather extremes, including the most hail damage he has seen and repeated six-inch-plus rains. He says soybean yields were better than he expected given the conditions.
Localized damage was offset by reasonable yields, so the weather mostly shifts regional supply rather than moving national soybean prices.
