Minnesota bank analyst Kent Thiesse reviews 2017 Upper Midwest crop production. Corn and soybean yields were above average in parts of the region for a third straight year, though weather was uneven in the Dakotas, Nebraska and parts of Minnesota.
Planting ran slightly late but was largely offset by a longer growing season.
Yields above average in several key areas add to the large US corn and soybean supplies that have kept prices subdued. Feed buyers should expect ample local supply.
