A farmdoc daily analysis by Emerson Nafziger reports that as of July 8, 76% of the Illinois corn crop was silking. The crop was rated 81% good to excellent, down from 85% a week earlier.
More than 85% of the state had adequate or surplus soil moisture.
Good crop ratings support expectations of high yields, which tends to weigh on corn prices unless hot, dry weather develops.
