India has cut the quantities of rice, potatoes, onions and dal it exports to Maldives free of restrictions by half or more, and reduced wheat flour to a minimal level. The move comes amid strained diplomatic ties as Maldives moves closer to China.

The cut in restriction-free exports is a small change in a tiny market, so its direct effect on rice and wheat prices is minimal.
