Following a July 25 Trump-Juncker meeting, the U.S. and EU agreed to work toward zero industrial tariffs, pausing a tariff escalation. USA Rice said the statement omitted agriculture, and that EU duties keep U.S. rice exports near 55,000 tons, with an extra 25% duty imposed on U.S. milled and broken rice on June 20.
The extra EU duty further restricts U.S. rice export access, keeping demand for U.S. rice weak, though the broader trade truce modestly lowers tail risk.
