China has cleared 14 of 19 registered Indian rice exporters to ship rice, while five, mostly basmati sellers, were asked to improve storage and pest isolation facilities. Under a June 9 agreement, China allowed non-basmati rice imports, provided shipments meet Chinese plant quarantine rules.
Reopening China as an outlet for Indian rice adds export demand and could ease prices in Asian markets, though the 5 excluded exporters limit near-term volume.
