Hurricane Florence has killed at least 37 people in North Carolina and left 343,000 without power. The state's Department of Agriculture says 3.4 million chickens and turkeys and 5,500 hogs died, double the losses from Hurricane Matthew in 2016.
Sanderson Farms reports 1.7 million broilers dead and over 6 million isolated by floodwaters, while farmers also worry about flooded hog lagoons.
