HSBC Vietnam expects the dong to lose 0.5 to 1 percent against the dollar by year end as the Chinese yuan keeps sliding. The yuan hit a 19-month low in early October after the PBOC cut reserve requirements again, and the Fed rate hike strengthened the dollar.
A weaker yuan and dollar strength pressure regional currencies and raise the cost of imported feed inputs priced in dollars. The effect on feed prices is modest given the small expected move.
