Farm groups welcomed the new 2018 Farm Bill, which sets agricultural policy for the next five years and offers farmers more program choices and a stronger safety net. They also welcomed the second round of Market Facilitation Program payments, though they called them inadequate.
Farm groups say low prices will persist until trade disputes are resolved, so export demand remains the key price driver for feed grains and oilseeds. Subsidies cushion farm income but do not restore prices.
