A High Plains Journal analysis says US corn demand for 2018-19 exceeds production, with 14.6 billion bushels produced against 15 billion used. Ending stocks of 1.78 billion bushels are described as comfortable, and a lower USDA yield would cut stocks to about 1.66 billion bushels.
Demand exceeding supply and the possibility of a yield cut could tighten the balance sheet and support corn prices if the market shifts its perception.
