Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's May supply and demand tables project overall grain and oilseed stocks to grow for a second straight year in 2019-20, with wheat and canola the largest contributors. AAFC raised its 2018-19 wheat export forecast by 100,000 tonnes to 18.8 million tonnes, leaving carry-out at 3.9 million tonnes, 32% below the five-year average.
A tighter 2018-19 wheat carry-out supports Canadian wheat prices, while projected larger 2019-20 stocks of wheat and canola point to softer prices later in the marketing year.
