Indonesia requested WTO dispute consultations on 9 December over EU Renewable Energy Directive measures that limit palm oil use in biodiesel. The European Commission said it is confident its measures comply with WTO obligations and will defend them.
The dispute targets EU limits on palm oil in biodiesel by 2030, so an adverse outcome or escalation would affect palm oil demand, while the EU's stance keeps the restriction in place for now.
