USDA data show the October all-milk price averaged $17.40 per hundredweight, up 70 cents from September, and the milk-feed price ratio rose to 2.20. Corn averaged $3.41 per bushel and soybeans $8.58, while the dairy margin hit its highest level of 2018 but stayed below 2017.
Better dairy margins support herd and feed demand, although feed costs remain a factor for producers choosing how much to buy.
