Phosphate prices rose as Mosaic, a US producer, pushed for import duties on phosphate from Morocco and Russia, arguing unfair competition. Concerns are growing that offshore prices will fall while importers look for alternative supplies to cover potential gaps.
The prospect of duties is already tightening available phosphate supply and encouraging importers to bid for non-targeted origins. This supports higher DAP prices in the US and globally.
