U.S. soybean cash prices fell to about $7.79 a bushel, the lowest in almost a decade, while Brazilian export premiums widened to $2.21 over Chicago futures for August shipment, the highest since 2014. China's tariffs on U.S. farm goods took effect after new U.S. duties and further trade threats.
Brazil's premiums have more than tripled since May.
The widening gap shifts Chinese buying toward Brazilian supply, reducing U.S. export demand and pressuring U.S. soybean prices while supporting Brazilian values for feed buyers.
