The Canadian dollar edged lower against the US dollar as the default of a US hedge fund weighed on sentiment and lifted the safe-haven greenback to a four-month high. Oil prices settled higher, with US crude near $61.56 a barrel after reports that Russia would support stable OPEC+ output.
