A University of Georgia extension economist outlined the US corn picture, citing a 2020 crop of about 14.2 billion bushels at 172 bushels per acre. She said a global supply gap after Ukrainian drought and large Chinese purchases to rebuild its hog herd have lowered US and global ending stocks and lifted prices.
Tight ending stocks and firm Chinese import demand support corn prices, which raises the cost of corn-based feed for buyers.
