An enterprise bargaining dispute between the MUA and Patrick Stevedores has led Patrick to close many rail freight windows at Port Botany, Sydney, for at least three weeks. Shippers say a large share of NSW agricultural exports will need to be unloaded at congested suburban depots and trucked to the port, adding handling costs.
Higher handling and rail disruption costs for grain and meal exports from NSW can widen basis and delay shipments, supporting local feed grain prices relative to futures.
