The Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers are working to reopen waterways in southeast Louisiana damaged by Hurricane Ida. About 85 obstructions were identified in the Bayou Lafourche channel, and 366 of 408 damaged navigation aids have been restored or temporarily corrected.
Remaining obstructions and shoaling on Gulf waterways slow grain barge and vessel movements, adding logistics cost and tightening export capacity during harvest.
