More than 191 Indigenous, environmental and human rights organizations from 62 countries urged the EU to tie its draft deforestation regulation to respect for community land rights. The draft restricts imports of cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy and wood grown on land deforested after 2020.
Advocacy pressure could widen the scope of EU import restrictions on soy and cattle products, but the proposal is not yet law, so the price impact is limited.
