Bangladesh's government will need roughly Tk 28,000 crore for fertiliser subsidies against a budget of Tk 9,500 crore, as the import price of urea has tripled in a year. The agriculture minister said there is no plan to raise farm fertiliser prices for now, but warned subsidy support would be hard to sustain if volatility persists.
