The EIA reports that distillate prices reached their highest nominal levels since 2014, with NYH ULSD hitting $2.96/gal on February 14. Low refinery output and strong consumption drove the increase, and the ULSD-Brent crack spread averaged about $0.62/gal in February.
Tight distillate inventories and wide crack spreads keep diesel costs elevated, which raises fuel and freight expenses for feed-mill delivery and feed ingredient transport.
