India has restricted exports of wheat products including flour, wholemeal atta and semolina from July 12. Exporters must now get prior approval from an inter-ministerial committee, after traders were found exporting these products to get around the May wheat export ban.
The curbs close a route that had let wheat-based supply reach overseas buyers, tightening global wheat product availability and supporting wheat prices.
